Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned

The quote, an excerpt from Alexander Pope's poem "From Eloisa to Abelard" talks about Elosia's desire-- and inability-- to forget her love for Abelard. She refers to herself as a 'vestal'-- a virginal nun, because she has been forced to take orders. She believes that if she were a more faithful nun then she would be able to forget her love, and her lust, and be happy in her confinement.
